Technical Manager (TM)


The Technical Manager (Lab) of the tissue culture production facility will be responsible for the overall
management of tissue culture production facility and the responsibilities include:

LABORATORY

  1. Planning, execution and supervision of tissue culture production activities
  2. Management of tissue culture hardening facilities (greenhouse) as well as nursery (secondary hardening) raised under the shade net facility
  3. Overall maintenance of cleanliness and sterile conditions of tissue culture laboratory facilities\
  4. Ensure preparation, review and approval of all plant cycles and creating daily, and weekly plans for the workers.
  5. Calibration of measuring/monitoring equipment’s
  6. Ensuring the QC for all plants is maintained
  7. Chemical store Manager managing the chemical
  8. The administrative responsibilities of Technical Manager are as follows but may not be limited to ensure proper administration on a day-to-day basis through Associates /Heads of Sections /Designated Responsible Persons, etc.
PERSONNEL

  1. Appointment of appropriate Lab personnel; ensure their training and maintenance of personnel service records.
  2. Make sure individuals working in the test facility are aware of their responsibilities as per the Job Description and responsibility issued from time to time.
  3. Ensure that the Associates are identified and designated for each department and are running smoothly in QC, R&D, Technical and Net house.

DOCUMENTATION

        1. Ensure preparation, issue, updating, adopting and maintenance of (but may not be limited to) documents such as:
                a. Master Schedule -Annual
                b. Multiplication records
                c. Organization Chart
                d. List of SOPs and Formats in use
                e. List of Equipment
                f. List of Chemicals
                g. Job Description
        2. Ensure proper calibration and validation of all the equipment and software in use in the facility

PROCESS

  1. Planning daily resources for development of tissue culture production facility
  2. Overseeing Quality Control; Archives; all routine activities in Facility as per DBT norms.
  3. Review of implementation of quality system and procedures
  4. Contracting tissue culture production
  5. Research and development/standardization/validation of tissue culture protocols for the
  6. initiation of new plant species
  7. Quality management and internal auditing of activities related to tissue culture production
  8. Evaluation of field performance of tissue culture plants in the field
  9. Financial approvals and purchases.
  10. Any other non-scientific administrative functions (will be specified in individual letters)
  11. Interaction with vendors.
  12. Creating annual plan broken down to monthly and weekly plan for the Laboratory
  13. Provide Monthly updates of progress along with weekly update of chemicals and laboratory work
  14. Establish an operational procedure for procurement of materials to the facility.
  15. Organizing virus-indexing and quality (genetic fidelity) testing of tissue culture plants
